Home Care in Hindmarsh Island

Hindmarsh Island is a river island located near Goolwa in the lower Murray River. Captain Charles Sturt used Hindmarsh Island as the highest point to locate the mouth of the River Murray in 1830.

In 2001, the Hindmarsh Island Bridge opened connecting the island to the mainland via Goolwa. Since then it’s become a popular place for day trips and drives for St Louis home care clients.

St Louis run social programs for our home care clients in Victor Harbor and the Fleurieu Peninsula. Our home care clients in Hindmarsh Island can join our weekly bus tours and tour this stunning south coast region with new companions who want to do the same.

About Hindmarsh Island

Hindmarsh Island has one of the largest freshwater marinas in the Southern Hemisphere called Coorong Quays. The island is unique with fresh water on the northern shores and salt water on the southern shores and the waters are separated by a series of barrages. The birdlife is plentiful and diverse, and part of the river has now been incorporated into the Coorong National Park due to its abundant wildlife.
